The chief of the Puerto Rico Police, Pierre Vivoni, has ordered an investigation into the complaint that a boat carrying 34 Dominicans and one Haitian attempting to illegally enter Puerto Rico could have been rammed into by the Puerto Rican Rapid Defense Force. The 24 people who reached land after their ship capsized claimed the boat was crashed into and that they were shot at by the Puerto Rican Police and left in the water as more units arrived. One person died. The Dominican consul in Puerto Rico, Fermin Diaz, requested the investigation. The travelers had paid RD$10,000 for the trip. 10 people are missing.
