The president of the Hotel & Restaurant Association, Ramon Prieto, said that among the changes to be incorporated into the tourism promotion bill are those that would favor the construction of small hotels and the renovation of existing hotels. The bill was recently passed by Congress but returned by the Executive Branch for modifications. Prieto favors including tax exemptions that would help hotels to renovate. Another of the modifications would include incentives for the construction of hotels of less than 100 rooms throughout the country.
