President of the Organizing Committee of the Pan American Games, neurosurgeon Jose Joaquin Puello, has announced that the recently-elected president of the International Olympic Committtee, Jacques Rogge of Belgium, will visit the DR on 15 August. Rogge is a surgeon, former Olympic competitor in yachting, and until recently was president of the European Olympic Committee. (26 July 2001)
