PRD deputies would vote against PRSC candidate

Sixty-six deputies of the ruling Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) have requested that the PRD no longer support the aspirations of PRSC deputy, Rafaela Alburquerque, who hopes to be re-elected as president of the Chamber of Deputies in August. In a letter sent to President Mejia and Hatuey de Camps, president of the party, the PRD deputies ask the President to no longer support Alburquerque now that former President Joaquin Balaguer, leader of the PRSC, is threatening to remove his support for the government. Balaguer threatened to do so if the government plans to go ahead with construction of Pan Am Games venues and a 4,000 person amphitheatre in the Mirador del Este Park.
