Norway group wants to build dams on Yuna River

President Hipolito Mejia announced he is seriously considering the proposal of a Norway group to build dams on the Yuna River. The RD$3,000 million project would provide potable water and power to communities in Monseñor Nouel province. Frank Moya Pons, who accompanied the President during his visit to Hatillo Dam this weekend, announced the area would also be turned into an ecotourism site. The Pan American Games rowing events will be held there. This is the largest artificial lake in the Caribbean.
