Power distributor Edesur cut power to the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic Center on Friday, seeking to pressure the government to pay its bills. Edesur chose a bad moment, when delegates from the Pan American Sports Organization were in town. Deputy Minister of Sports David Brito said that the Ministry has agreed to make a RD$2 million payment on their bill and another of RD$6 million on Monday. The power cut affected operations at the Ministry of Sports and the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
