Government revenues for July were considerably less than expected. The RD$4,200 million July total is the lowest monthly collection in the past seven months. National Treasurer Pastora Mendez attributed the decline to the implementation of the GATT valuation system at Customs. She said that both Customs and the Internal Revenues & Income Tax departments reported declines of RD$500 million each in collections. Government revenues so far this year have been: January: RD$5,234.8 million (including RD$800 million financing) February: RD$4,282 million March: RD$4,449.4 million April: RD$4,932.2 million May: RD$5,067.4 million June: RD$4,922.8 million July: RD$4,200 million.
