Vertilio Cornielle Segura, director of the Institute of Pathology, said yesterday that lieutenant Oscar Lachapelle de los Santos, son of the director of the National Department of Narcotics Control (DNCD), died of a heart attack. He was found dead in his car which was parked in a lot three blocks from his workplace. He went missing on Friday and was found Monday morning. Since his body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, the pathologist said it was not possible to determine if an excess of sugar in his blood contributed to his death. 33-year-old Lachapelle was a diabetic since childhood. His physician, Dr. Felix Manuel Escaño, said he was careless about his diet and sometimes ate more than he should. The authorities deny that Lachapelle committed suicide or was murdered.
