Minister of Interior & Police Rafael Subervi Bonilla, a former mayor of Santo Domingo, says municipalities are receiving 67% more money this year than last year. He said this translates into 290 million pesos more a year. He said that when he was mayor of Santo Domingo, he handled 25 to 30 million pesos a month, and now the city is receiving 53 to 60 million a month.
