Minister of Finance Fernando Alvarez Bogaert says the government will readjust the National Budget to accommodate the unexpected decline in tax revenues. He said the economic team erred when it forecast a decline in fuel prices to US$22-$23 and did not foresee the effects of the slowdown of the US economy. The governments economic team originally established a budget of RD$65,000 million. This was reduced in the first quarter to RD$59,000 million when revenues did not meet expectations. The Minister says another adjustment needs to be made.
