The Dominican team that placed fourth in the III World Sub 21 Basketball Championship in Japan returned yesterday. The players called for more support from the Basketball Federation and the government. The Dominican team was reinforced by Dominican basketball players from New York City colleges and high schools, such as Jack Michael Martinez, Amaury Filion, Luis Flors and Carlos Morban. The Dominicans lost only to Argentina, the United States and Croatia in the world event. Jack Michael Martinez said the team had to borrow money to buy the tickets to make the trip. He said their performance shows what could be accomplished with a little bit more support from the Basketball Federation. “Compared to other teams, we have not received any support,” he said.
