The Pan American Games will take place from 1-17 August 2003. The date was confirmed during the meeting of the Panamerican Sports Organization (PASO) being held in Santo Domingo until Saturday. The assembly approved ceiling fans for the athletes’ apartments instead of air conditioners. Mario Vasquez Raña, president of PASO, said the Games will cost around US$110 million. He also said not to expect any profits as the Games produce more expenses than earnings. The Sports Organization met in Santo Domingo to review progress being made towards the Games.
