Shopping for nuclear energy?

President Hipolito Mejia expressed an interest in nuclear energy during his visit to Argentina. The President ordered a commission of Dominican technicians to visit the Argentinean Nuclear Energy Commission to study the possibility of installing a nuclear power plant in the DR. He feels all alternatives should be studied to improve the power situation here. El Caribe reports that President Mejia met with Aldo Ferrer, president of the Argentinean Nuclear Energy Commission, and asked him, “About how much would one of those of 700 megawatt plants cost?” At least US$1 billion, he was told. The President said that he prefers hydroelectric, wind or solar power. He clarified he has sent technicians to California and Israel because “we have to get involved in all”.
