Plantain flour to be produced here

A Peruvian company, Corporacion de Negocios y Lacteos, has signed an agreement with the Dominican government for the installation of a plant to process plantains for fortified plantain flour and other products for public school breakfasts. The plant calls for a US$15 million investment over two phases. The plant will go up in the north central Salcedo free zone. It will process more than 10 million plaintains a month and will employ 400 people. In addition to supplying nutritional meals to approximately 1.5 million school children. The plantain flour will be made with a combination of plantains, rice, barley, and vitamins and minerals. It will be used to produce plantain bread, a milk drink and cakes.
