Senator Cesar Augusto Matias (PRD-Valverde) said it is a given that the term for senators and deputies will be extended by 2 years. He said the only way to avoid this would be to close Congress. “I am convinced “hit and run” is a reality, because I am inside; it is not decorous, but it is legal if done,” he told the Listin Diario. He said that some 120 deputies and more than 20 senators favor extending their terms by modifying the Constitution. He forecast this would happen next week.
