The PLD party has ordered its government officers who have been called in for questioning by the Department for the Prevention of Corruption (Depreco) to obey the order if the authorities decide to use force to oblige them. The Department announced an investigation into a RD$1.4 billion fund for reconstruction following Hurricane George. The PLD says it is but a political show to discredit former President Leonel Fernandez at a time when surveys show widespread dissatisfaction with the Mejia administration and a general perception that the government is doing little or nothing to fight corruption in office.
