President of the Supreme Court Jorge Subero Isa said he would resign if political criteria prevail in the making of court decisions. I will leave through the same door that political criteria enters in the decision making of the Supreme Court of Justice, he said when interviewed after the swearing in of three new judges. One of the judges has a notorious track record as a loyal PRSC/Balaguer supporter. During the same ceremony, President Hipolito Mejia promised that he would not send messengers to the Supreme Court requesting particular judgements. Mejia said that from now on history will judge the performance of the new Supreme Court members. He said he was confident in the new judges.
