Hector Duval, of the Organizing Committee of the 2003 Pan Am Games confirmed the new site for the equestrian sports of the Games. He explained the Mirador del Norte Park site has been replaced by a location in Palmarejo at the height of Km. 17-1/2 of Duarte Highway. Duval said the new site has the approval of the technical delegate of the International Equestrian Federation, Leopoldo Palacios. Palacios was in charge of the equestrian sites at the Barcelona and Sydney Olympic Games. The president of the Dominican Equestrian Federation, Jose Manuel Ramos will be the contractor engineer for the new center. Duval expects the new center to be ready two years before the Games, giving local athletes a competitive advantage.
