El Siglo reports that a Puerto Plata Hotel Association is in the making. The association would group members from Playa Dorada, Sosua, Cabarete, Maimon, Cofresí, Costambar and Puerto Plata city. According to El Siglo, the rationale is to strengthen the area’s representation. The newspaper says that area hoteliers feel that the National Association of Hotels & Restaurants has leaned more in favor of other areas of the country in the past. (27 September 2001)
