The Ministry of Public Works has announced that the old Duarte Bridge will be closed to traffic at the end of November to conclude repairs. Traffic will be diverted to the new Duarte Bridge at that time. The new bridge over the Ozama River has six lanes, three in each direction. The old bridge only has four lanes. The new span is costing the state RD$619 million. Once both bridges are in operation, the government will build two pedestrian bridges.
