The Dominican Medical Association (AMD) has announced it will hold a general work stoppage tomorrow in all Santo Domingo public hospitals. Listin Diario reports that the doctors are demanding the public health department deliver RD10.7 million it owes to the AMD medical insurance plan. They also want the back pay owed to 500 medical residents, the renovation of hospitals and various other demands. For its part, the Public Health Department says that in spite of the doctors protests, the health situation in this country is improving.
