Foreigners arrested over weekend

Over the weekend, the Armed Forces and the National Department of Investigations (DNI) arrested nine Pakistanis, Arabs and Africans in the DR. They also seized equipment and documents from an Asian person who left the DR at the beginning of September, leaving behind a large amount of property including a vehicle and a computer. As well, Hoy newspaper reports that the US would be cancelling the visas of Turkish, Iranian, Pakistani and Arab citizens who arrive in the US coming from the Dominican Republic. The director of the DNI, Major General Fernando Cruz Mendez, has said that his organization has augmented its security measures and has arrested and questioned various Middle Eastern citizens regarding the terrorist attacks in the US.
