Hoy newspaper reports that District Attorney Maximo Aristy Caraballo has arrested police corporal Jose Perez Santana, alias Tyson, accused of the murder of 18-year-old Pedro Manuel Contreras in Villa Francisca. The corporal is under arrest at the Police headquarters after the brutal killing made headlines when his mother denounced the case on TV. Brunilda Contreras admitted that her son was into drugs but said he should have been allowed to appear before justice. Aristy Caraballo said a commission of lawyers from his office will investigate the shootout. The deceased’s mother appealed for help for slum area youths. “These are not delinquents, they are kids lost in drugs and the police and the authorities have to rescue them,” she said.
