What is most strange is that power bills have not declined, regardless of the long hours of blackouts. The president of the Dominican Radio Station Owners Association (Adora), Jose Lluberes, said that organization is considering suing the power distributors for the apparent practice of billing for blackouts. “We cannot continue to pay for a service we are not receiving. If they deliver four or five hours of power a day, they should charge for those hours and not for 24 hours. If they are billing for hours not provided, then they are subject to be sued,” he said. He said the members of the association will give the government until January to resolve the situation, or else they will take action.
