The Canadian women’s volleyball team has decided not to participate in the North, Central and Caribbean Volleyball Championships to be held in Santo Domingo this week. Lorne Sawula, spokesman for the team, sent a fax to event organizer Cristobal Marte saying the decision was made as a result of the recent bombings in Afghanistan. He said the team is concerned because the flight to the DR has stops in Chicago and Miami. The Canadians also fear not being able to get back home. The US team arrived yesterday.
