El Caribe newspaper reports that Friedrich Leibacher, the deranged Swiss gunman who entered a regional parliament in central Switzerland on 27 September killing 14 and injuring another 14 before committing suicide, had family ties in the DR since 1986. The newspaper says he married three barely educated Dominican women and had two daughters. The first, a 15-year-old, he took to Switzerland ten years ago and eventually sent her to boarding school in Australia, where she is now. Leibacher had convinced his former first wife Villegas to come to Switzerland in August of this year to see their daughter. The woman then was kicked out of his mothers house where she was staying, and she ended up in a psychiatric home, as reported by El Caribe. The DR honorary consul Isabel de Brenes has taken an interest in her case.
