El Siglo reports that the country has experienced a 200 to 300 megawatt shortfall of generated power for the last three days. For example, yesterday morning only 1200 megawatts were available to meet a demand of about 1400 megawatts. The eastern zone and other sectors of the capital were the most affected by blackouts of more than eight hours yesterday. On Tuesday night, eastern sectors like Alma Rosa, Los Mina, Los Trinitarios, Carretera Mella and the Dar?o Contreras zone reported power interruptions of over eight hours as well. This comes in spite of reassurances from the government that millions of dollars in payments have been made to partially settle the debt to generators and amid more promises that the country?s power problems are over.
