Carry-on luggage clarified

A spokesman for the Dominican Airport Consortium (Aerodom) has clarified media reports about the amount of hand luggage that will be accepted on flights to the United States. Ellis Perez says the new restrictions do not prohibit passengers from taking hand luggage on board, but they are limited to one bag (“bulto”) and one other item such as a briefcase, laptop computer or small case. Several passengers told El Siglo yesterday that the airlines were taking away their hand luggage and only allowing them to board with one purse/briefcase and a jacket or coat. Perez says possibly some airline staff misinterpreted the new regulations at first. (11 October 2001)
