F?lix S?nchez, the world champion in the 400 meter hurdles, was scheduled to arrive home to the DR this afternoon after his successful tour of world athletic championships. S?nchez has a busy schedule of public appearances planned, among them a visit with the National Drug Council, the National Police, the Dominican Air Force and the Secretary of State for Sports. He also will visit some underprivileged neighborhoods in the National District. The first time S?nchez represented the DR was at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, when he took 4th place in the 400 meter hurdles. He shone at the Goodwill Games in Australia, but his best performance was at the World Athletic Championships in Edmonton, where he won the gold medal in hurdles with a time of 47.49 seconds. S?nchez is touted as one of this country?s greatest hopes for the Pan Am Games of 2003. He says he also wants to bring home a gold medal from the Olympics in Athens, Greece, in 2004.
