Ten PLD and PRD deputies “bad fathers”

The Attorney General has been given the names of ten PLD and PRD deputies accused of not paying child support to the mothers of their children. The deputies’ refusal to pay has prompted Attorney General Virgilio Bello Rosa to ask for the intervention of the deputies’ political parties to reach a “harmonious agreement.” Listín Diario reports today that the deputies are accused of failure to pay for food, inattention to their children and mistreatment by negligence. The names of the ten deputies have not been released but sources told Listín Diario that they represent La Vega, San Francisco de Macorís and the National District. Eliza Sánchez Pujols of the Department of Children, Adolescents and Family warns that “being a legislator does not place you above your responsibilities as a parent… We have received ten claims from women who have had children with deputies; we have developed a plan of action which involves the deputies coming to this department to discuss solutions to these claims,” she said.
