Attorney General Virgilio Bello Rosa has promised to investigate a denunciation by Father Rogelio Cruz that a mafia within the police is selling the organs of delinquents shot down by police agents. Bello Rosa said that he received correspondence regarding the matter from Police Chief Major General Pedro de Jesus Candelier requesting the opening of an investigation. He said that previously he had also been notified by the director of Forensic Pathology, Bertilio Cornielle. A confidant had told Father Rogelio Cruz that police agents were involved in the traffic of organs. Father Cruz said that after he made the denunciation, his confidant was injured and hospitalized at the Juan Pablo Pina Public Hospital in San Cristobal where he is handcuffed to his bed and is under police custody.
