Activities at the US Consulate in Santo Domingo were paralysed for more than an hour yesterday after a call was received saying a bomb had been placed at the entrance to the consulate. Employees and visitors were evacuated and traffic in the area was detoured as a special police operations unit searched bags, garbage cans, tanks and cars parked near the building. The threat turned out to be a hoax.
