Japanese conducts Cibao Chamber Orchestra

Toru Kanayama feels his trouble speaking Spanish will not be a major impediment to his contributing to a better Cibao Chamber Orchestra. Kanayama, as reported by El Caribe, was sent to the DR thanks to the Japanese International Cooperation Agency. He is a middle-aged volunteer who has come to direct the Cibao Chamber Orchestra. He told the newspaper that Dominicans are good people, but there is too much noise in Santiago. He also commented that Dominican musicians are in too much of a rush to make money and should have the patience to learn the right techniques.
