Culture Minister Tony Raful announced that the carnival of Santo Domingo will take place Sunday, 2 March starting at 2pm on the Malecon. A new commission will organize the carnival events this year, headed by Raful, and will include the participation of the ministries of tourism and youth, the city government of Santo Domingo and the National Folklore Institute. Building up to the Santo Domingo carnival are the magnificent carnivals of La Vega (held every Sunday in February) and that of Santiago.
