Refinery guarantees airline fuel

The National Association of Hotels and Restaurants voices it concern over a potential shortage of airplane fuel, reports Hoy newspaper, however sources close to the refinery say that these concerns are unfounded.
Carlos Alvarez Guzman, the director of the Airport Department, told the Listin Diario newspaper that there was enough Avgas to supply the needs of airlines until next Saturday, at which time a tanker is expected to deliver crude oil from Mexico. He points out that the president of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery, Amaury Justo Duarte, had promised the airlines enough fuel to continue operations in the Dominican Republic, although with some rationing. In a related story, reports from Las Americas International Airport (the Santo Domingo airport) say that flights were arriving and departing as normal, and that the airlines were taking their own steps to avoid any fueling problems.
