DR1 will not publish a news update tomorrow, Tuesday, 21 January, in observance of the national holiday commemorating the Lady of High Grace (Virgen de la Altagracia), patron saint of the Dominican Republic. Thousands of Dominicans make the yearly pilgrimage to the Higuey Basilica, about half an hour from Punta Cana, and three hours from Santo Domingo. Tuesday?s holiday created a long weekend, with most schools closed on Monday. Tomorrow?s news will be compiled and published in our Wednesday edition.
