Placido Domingo has announced his return to the Dominican Republic for a concert at the La Romana Altos de Chavon amphitheater on 22 January 2004. The concert is sponsored by the Banco Popular as part of its 40th anniversary activities and will benefit the Fundacion Sinfonia, which supports the national symphony orchestra. Born on 21 January 1941, Domingo says he will celebrate his 63rd birthday at the concert.
