The new Attorney General spoke too soon

In an interview last Friday with El Caribe newspaper, the new Attorney General, Victor Cespedes stated that he favored putting three other departments under the control of his office: The National Department for Drug Control (DNCD); the Department of Forensic Medicine and the Department of Crime Scene Investigation of the National Police.
Members of the Congress reacted at once and totally rejected any transfer of control of the DNCD, while at the same time they expressed guarded approval that the other departments should be under the control of the Attorney General.
President Mejia, in a curt answer to reporters who asked about this in Higuey, said: ?The DNCD stays where it is.? Mejia said, ?[Tell] Victor to stick his nose into something else, he (Victor Cespedes) has enough problems without getting into this one.?
