Hot potatoes for new Attorney General

The discredited Department for Prevention of Corruption (DEPRECO) sent the Attorney General?s office 13 cases that had not been expedited during the tenure of Virgilio Bello Rosa. According to Jesus Felix, the head of DEPRECO, his department simply changed the dates and the name of the Attorney General before forwarding them to the new Attorney General, Victor Cespedes. Felix told reporters that the case documents have sufficient evidence to sustain an indictment against those involved. Although he left it up to Cespedes to make public the details of the cases that would be brought to trial, Felix did say that among the cases were those of the propane gas coupon fraud, the case involving the Civil Aeronautics Board, and the case of the Dominican consulate in Colombia. Felix reminded reporters that of the nine cases brought before the tribunals, only one cleared the court in the first instance, and the others were ?pocketed?.
