President Hipolito Mejia was present yesterday for the initiation of the Proyecto Habitacional Ciudad ISSFA, which will undertake the construction of about 8,000 dwellings for members of the Armed Forces. The construction site comprises an area of three million square meters and is situated at Km. 22 of the Duarte Highway. To back the project the government obtained US$260 million in financing from the Swiss-Colombian consortium Southern Cross, which is presided over by Michel Fradin. Of the residences to be built, 3,500 will have lots of 65 square meters, 2,500 will have lots of 100 square meters, 500 will have lots of 280 square meters and 1,000 will be apartments of 110 square meters.
