Sasso says so, but…

According to El Caribe, the representative for Child Safe Products, Donald Sasso, cannot produce the documents that authorize him to sign on behalf of the company a billion-peso contract with the Dominican government. The front-page story says that Sports Minister Cesar Cede?o has distanced himself from any irregularities in the RD$1.4 billion contract with Child Safe Products. The contract is related to the construction of 115 multi-sport centers in as many municipalities. Yesterday El Caribe newspaper questioned specific details of the loan associated to this contract. Alejandro Montas, a member of the Chamber of Deputies, also questioned the contract which is to be funded with a US$61.6-million loan from US commercial banks. According to El Caribe, Cede?o visited El Caribe newspaper with his assistants but Sasso was the loan representative for Child Safe Products. Reporters on hand speculated that Sasso seemed uncomfortable, even though he tried to offer information that did not answer the questions of the journalists.
During the interview at El Caribe, Cede?o explained that no government officer had visited the offices of Child Safe Products despite the company having been entrusted with a US$61.6 million contract from the state.
