Hoy newspaper reports that the president of the Federacion Nacional de Transporte La Nueva Opcion (Fenatrano) delivered a RD$3.7-million certified check to the Municipality of Santo Domingo yesterday. This amount had been deducted from the municipality’s account with the Banco de Reservas for arrears in the payment of the Fenatrano debt related to the 432 vehicles whose purchase was ensured by a guarantee from the municipality. Juan Hubieres personally delivered the check in the amount of RD$3,781,408.40 to the legal advisor of the muncipality, Juan Cedano, and to treasurer, Rosanna Montilla. The buses were purchased from Hyundai America Corporation, a corporation created for the import of the buses, using financing from the Florida commercial bank, the Union Planter’s Bank of Miami.
