The Ministry of Tourism announced that the Sixth International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) will take place in the Dominican Republic from 8 to 11 December 2003. The event, organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions, will be held at the Barcel? B?varo Resort Convention Center.
”The Dominican Republic is delighted to host IGTM 2003 and invites all delegates to discover the natural beauty of the country and its peaceful, free atmosphere, the hospitality of the Dominican people, and its world class golf courses” said Tourism Minister Rafael Suberv? Bonilla upon making the announcement. During the press conference, he said that the event would be the launch of the Dominican golf product to the world.
For the golf tourism sector, IGTM is the premier meeting place and business forum, with the regular participation of specialized golf tour operators, incentive travel agents, meetings and conference organizers with leading hotels, resorts, golf courses, airlines and other suppliers of golf-related. The IGTM is the annual focus for the whole of the golf travel industry.
“We are delighted that the Dominican Republic will be the host destination for IGTM 2003. The Dominican Republic is truly the golf capital of the Caribbean and IGTM 2003 provides an ideal opportunity to showcase this beautiful golf destination to the largest gathering of golf tourism professionals in the world,” said Mark Walsh, event manager for IGTM. He said that more than 700 tour operators specializing in golf packages will travel to the Dominican Republic for the event. At the 2002 event held in Biarritz, France, 788 delegates participated from 34 countries. Accommodations will be provided at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace and the Barcelo Bavaro Beach, which are both within walking distance to the convention center.
