El Millon case gains new steam

Now that a judge has ruled in favor of disgruntled neighbors and ordered the demolition of a 10-storey apartment building that was irregularly constructed in a Naco neighborhood, El Millon neighbors feel they have a stronger case. The El Millon neighbors object to the construction of a three-storey building in a single family home area and which went up on Palacio de los Deportes Street. Gilberto Perez Matos, a spokesperson for the protesting neighborhood group, says they have received a judgement from the city government ordering the suspension of construction work, which has gone unheeded by the builders.
The recent court order to tear down the unlawful contruction sets a precedent and serves as an alert to builders to keep within the law?s boundaries.
