Isabela International ready in March

Public Works Minister Miguel Vargas says that by the end of March, construction work at La Isabela (AILI) International Airport, located north of Santo Domingo, will be completed. The plan is to transfer the operations of the Herrera International Airport to La Isabela. The Fernandez government began construction of AILI shortly after privatizing the operation of its national airports. According to Vargas, the government investment was tallied at RD$829 million, plus an additional US$4 million in equipment, for a total of nearly one billion pesos. While the government undertook this construction, the private sector built the airports of La Romana and Santiago with noticeably lower price tags.
Aerodom, which operates the Las Americas International (Santo Domingo) and Gregorio Luperon International Airport (Puerto Plata), has been entrusted with the management of the La Isabela International Airport.
