According to the economy section of El Caribe, gasoline may become scarce as soon as this weekend. Reporter Lourdes Rosa says that several stations in Santo Domingo have already experienced a rush of customers in the face of the boycott of new fuel purchases ordered by ANADEGAS. Sixty-one percent of the stations in Santo Domingo are members of the national organization that seeks to force the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to grant retailers what they consider to be acceptable profit margins. The new margins would not affect the price of fuels at the pump. According to ANADEGAS, of the 169 stations located in Santo Domingo, 103 are members of the association. In the Cibao Valley, the association says that their affiliates have maintained the boycott, while recognizing that the gasoline distributors have about 200 stations of their own. The 18 gasoline stations in Puerto Plata have not ordered any more fuel, according to their representative.
