The government steps up aid to PanAm Games

According to a report in Hoy newspaper, the government has halted many of its other public works construction projects in order to push ahead the completion of the installations needed for the Pan American Games. Among the projects that the Public Works Ministry has slowed or halted are the repairs to the Juan Pablo Duarte Bridge, the work on the Nu?ez de Caceres drainage tunnel and the remodeling of the National Archives. The public housing project in Villa Juana and the repairs to the Blessed Heart Church in the same sector have been slowed down and are about 93 percent near completion.
