The Attorney General wants a new law

The Attorney General of the Dominican Republic, Victor Cespedes, told the press that the country needs laws to crack down on white slavery, prostitution, forced labor and illegal organ trafficking. Cespedes deplores the fact that the country lacks exact numbers on how many women and children are involved in sexual slavery and prostitution and said that there are no specific laws that can be applied to punish offenders. To prove his point, Cespedes told reporters that over the past two years authorities from the Department of Immigration had broken up 26 different bands of human traffickers, many of them disguised as tour companies. Cespedes spoke at the seminar on proposed legislation for human trafficking taking place at the Hotel Lina.
