Diario Libre reports today that the Rumbo-Gallup poll shows that of 20 possible alliances of the 3 leading political parties and their most likely candidates, the PLD is ahead in 18. The poll showed that if before the second round, or during a second round, an inter-party alliance were to be made, 60% would prefer that it be between the PLD and the PRSC.
Former President Leonel Fernandez leads, when voters polled were asked who they would choose if a presidential election were held today. The question brought a 33.5% response in favor of Fernandez, followed by Eduardo Estrella (PRSC) with 12.5%, Jacinto Peynado (PRSC) with 8.8%, Hip?lito Mej?a (PRD) with 6.8% and lastly Milagros Ortiz Bosch (PRD) with 6.3%. All other candidates received less than 4%. Political analysts say that Eduardo Estrella has the support of the PRSC faction that is said to have allied itself with the PPH-PRD faction in support of President Hip?lito Mej?a?s re-election.
