Self-employment is on the rise

The List?n Diario reports that 41.25% of the working population in the Dominican Republic is self-employed. Only the category of ?employee? comprised greater numbers, with a total of 41.78% of the working population. The popularity of self-employment, according to the Central Bank document, signifies a 7.7% rise, the largest in all categories studied. The government employee category grew by 5.5%, with 402,611 individuals accounted for. The Central Bank study included 97,679 people total.
